Community Foundation Making Grant Applications Easier

As a result of ever increasing inquiries for funding support the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore (CFES) will soon be making it easier for local nonprofits to apply for grants.

“In just the past year alone, the Community Foundation distributed more than $5 million in funding to local nonprofit organizations,” said Erica Joseph, CFES President.  “A new cloud based secure grant portal will focus on ways to help nonprofits to submit applications for a portion of those funds we grant each year,” she added.   “As the number of inquiries from nonprofits continues to grow, we have been looking for a way to make the process easier and more efficient, while maintaining vigorous attention to detail,” Joseph said. “Ultimately this new system will help the Foundation identify those funding opportunities and make it easier for nonprofit organizations to apply for Community Foundation grants,” she said.

Starting July 2017, the Foundation will offer charities on Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore an enhanced grant application experience that improves collaboration while simplifying the grant process, Joseph explained.  After July 1st the Community Foundation will no longer accept paper applications or letters of inquiry for grants.  To help support local nonprofits in Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties, the Community Foundation will be hosting a series of training workshops to enable nonprofits to learn how to efficiently use the new grants application portal.  Please visit www.cfes.org to learn more.  For questions about CFES Grant programs – contact Heather Mahler, Program Director at hmahler@cfes.org or call 410-742-9911
