Salisbury, MD — TidalHealth Peninsula Regional is pleased to announce that Tywuan “Ty” Cornish, medical laboratory scientist in Transfusion Services, is its 2nd Quarter 2025 Laboratory Legend Award recipient.
Cornish was recognized by her coworkers for being dependable and able to complete tasks no matter what the day brings. She was also recognized for helping other departments and training new members. Her nomination is included below:
“Ty does the scheduling for the department and has recently worked many overtime shifts that were unable to be filled when techs were on maternity leave, including night shifts.
Ty is always on the lookout for how to improve things, and recently suggested new door handles for the laboratory bathrooms that have a red indicator when the bathrooms are in use. We appreciate when our team members help us improve our environment.
Ty recently helped a coworker get to the Emergency Department when they needed medical care during their shift. She is always aware of her surroundings and is not afraid to step into action when a need arises.
Ty also met with the Joint Commission inspector to discuss the process of issuing blood products in the laboratory, and she was commended by the inspector for her wealth of knowledge.”
