Salisbury, MD — Wicomico Public Library is proud to announce a transformational $1 million gift from Debbie and Randy Day to support the creation of a dedicated Children’s Area in the new Sarbanes Library, currently under development on Schumaker Pond.
This generous contribution marks one of the largest individual gifts in the library’s history and establishes the Days as leading champions of literacy, education, and access for families throughout Wicomico County.
“This gift is about children, families, and a better Wicomico County,” said Randy Day, who, along with his wife Debbie, spoke at the Library’s recent Capital Campaign Kickoff and Design Reveal event held at the future site of the new branch.
The new Children’s Area, supported through the Days’ contribution, will provide an engaging, vibrant library space designed to spark curiosity and support early learning — creating a welcoming environment for young readers and their families.
“We are deeply grateful to the Days for their vision for our community and commitment to this project,” said Marty Neat, Chair of the Friends Foundation of Wicomico Public Library. “When they decided to step up with a $1 million gift, I knew right then—we were going to be okay. This campaign was really going to succeed.”
