Delmarva Chicken Industry History Documentary Premieres Planned

Chicken

After nearly a year of research, interviews, production, and editing, the new documentary about the early years of Delmarva’s chicken industry soon will be premiered at two locations. We invite you to attend one or both of the late April world premieres.
Produced by 302 Stories, Inc. and Berkana, Center for Media and Education, Inc., this hour-long documentary will show highlights of the early years of the local chicken industry, from its improbable formation in the 1920s through the 1960s. Photographs, early motion pictures, and interviews with persons knowledgeable about the early years are sure to make this an interesting and entertaining film.
Cluck, Pluck, and Luck will be shown for the first time on Thursday, April 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center on the campus of Salisbury University. Hosted by the Edward H. Nabb Center for Delmarva History and Culture, the viewing is open to the general public. Parking is available in Dogwood Parking Lot D off of Dogwood Drive. A campus map is attached. Seating is limited to the first 150 people who arrive.
The following Monday, April 27, the documentary will be shown at 6:30 p.m. in the Theatre of the Arts and Science Center on the campus of Delaware Technical and Community College at Georgetown. Enter the campus from Delaware Route 18/404/Seashore Highway and park where you can in designated spaces. A campus map is attached. Light refreshments will be offered prior to the showing. Seating is limited to the first 350 persons to arrive.
The production of this documentary has revealed a lot about the early years of Delmarva’s chicken industry, with much of the information not previously captured by historians.
Whether you are a long-time Delmarva resident, a veteran of the chicken industry, or just curious about the history of this hugely important local industry, you are sure to enjoy this documentary. We hope you will join us.
No reservations are needed and it is first come-first admitted.
