Delmarva Shorebirds and The SACC Strengthen Community Ties at May Business After Hours

BAF-1 (23)

The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce and its members gathered on May 7 for a vibrant Business After Hours event, co‑hosted by the Delmarva Shorebirds at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Rain or shine, more than 100 attendees enjoyed an afternoon of networking, hospitality, and behind‑the‑scenes access to one of the region’s most iconic venues.

The event was held in the stadium’s Executive Club, where guests were invited to take guided tours showcasing recent facility updates and renovations that include a new 9,000 sq ft Performance Center, renovations to existing locker rooms, new on-site weight room, new commissaries for the home and visiting teams, new gym, and much more! With these state‑of‑the‑art upgrades, players can train and perform better, and that inspires them to push themselves further.

Attendees were welcomed by Shorebirds General Manager Chris Bitters, who shared his enthusiasm for hosting the local business community. Bitters shared “Thank you all for being here tonight. Many people may not realize that this ballpark is a county facility, and none of what we enjoy today would have been possible 35 years ago without a shared vision and the support of the County and County Council, as well as our community partners. The upgrades you just toured, ensure that this team will be here far longer than most of us will and that’s a legacy we should all be proud of.”

Guests enjoyed an array of ballpark favorites, including Burger Sliders, BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders, Southern‑Style Chicken Sliders, Seasoned Tater Tot Cups, Bavarian Pretzel Sticks with Beer Cheese, popcorn, and fresh watermelon; along with choice of adult beverages.

Door prizes included Delmarva Shorebirds shirts, hat, bubbleheads and tickets to watch the games; and raffle tickets were sold to support the SACC Foundation and the Wor‑Wic Scholarship Fund. The lucky raffle winner, Rob Anderson, received a $50 gift card to Bagel Bakery Café and $50 gift card to Savour Restaurant.

The Chamber extends its appreciation to the Delmarva Shorebirds for their partnership and hospitality, and to all attendees who made the event a success.

The community is invited to join the next Business After Hours hosted by BBSI on June 11.
