The March General Membership Luncheon will feature John Martin, Director of the Maryland Lottery & Gaming Commission, the statewide authority responsible for operating the Maryland Lottery and regulating casino gaming and sports wagering.
The luncheon will be held on Thursday, March 19, 11:30 – 1:00 PM, at Green Hill Country Club in Quantico, MD.
Attendees will gain insight into how lottery and gaming activity delivers significant value to Maryland communities.
Martin will highlight how over 96% of every Lottery dollar flows back into the community through player prizes, retailer commissions that support small businesses, and tax revenue that funds key public programs. These funds help sustain initiatives in education, public health, public safety, and environmental protection.
Martin will also outline the major beneficiaries of casino and sports wagering revenue, including the Maryland Education Trust Fund and the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund, both of which play a crucial role in supporting the state’s long-term educational priorities.
Maryland continues to see exceptional financial performance in this sector, with combined Lottery and Gaming revenue surpassing $1.5 billion in each of the last two fiscal years, and projections indicating similar success in FY26.
In addition to financial impact, Martin will discuss the Maryland Lottery & Gaming Commission’s commitment to responsible gaming, emphasizing efforts to safeguard vulnerable populations, promote healthy play, and connect individuals experiencing gambling-related harm with vital resources.
Registration is required at salisburyarea.com and includes a full buffet lunch. Members – $35, Non-Members – $45
