A ribbon cutting for the Downtown Trolley was held on Thursday, August 28th at Salisbury University. The trolley made its first loop and City officials were on board to answer questions from the public and the media.

The Downtown Trolley is an effort put together by the City of Salisbury, Shore Transit, and Salisbury University as a service to students and the community. Starting its loop in front of the Perdue School of Business, the Downtown Trolley will shuttle passengers from the University to the downtown shops and restaurants. The trolley will run Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 7:00 pm to 2:00 am and fare will only be $1 for the evening. This exciting project has been partially funded by a $50,000 grant from the Maryland Transit Administration as part of the effort to link Salisbury University students with the businesses in Downtown Salisbury. “As part of the ongoing renaissance of Downtown Salisbury, we are seeking to deepen the connection between our university students and downtown businesses. With the Downtown Trolley, we are literally bringing this audience to local business owner’s doorsteps” says City Council President, Jake Day.
