Salisbury, MD – TidalHealth is pleased to welcome Ramon Riojas, MD, PhD, to TidalHealth Cardiovascular Surgery in Salisbury, Md.
Dr. Riojas earned his PhD in biochemistry from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, and his medical degree from Uniformed Services University Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. He completed his general surgery residency at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi and his cardiothoracic fellowship at the University of California in San Francisco, Calif.
Dr. Riojas serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force and is currently assigned to Joint Base Andrews, Air Force District of Washington, D.C. He most recently practiced as a cardiothoracic surgeon at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md.
Dr. Riojas is board-certified in general surgery by the American College of Surgeons and board-eligible in thoracic surgery. He has experience in the full spectrum of adult cardiac and thoracic surgery, including coronary artery bypass, structural heart valve disease, and aortic surgery. He has additional interest in minimally invasive thoracic surgery, is certified with the daVinci robot and has experience performing lung transplants and mechanical circulatory support.
