IYKYK! Crisfield is a quiet little town at the very end of the Chesapeake Country All-American Road on the Eastern Shore of Maryland known for crabs, ducks AND that it likes to do things BIG! Last year it hosted the World’s Largest Rubber Duck and this year’s world record will be for the most “duck dogs” (Golden, Labrador and Chesapeake Bay Retrievers–other duck loving dogs are invited, too!). The August 9-10th, 12-6pm event for dog owners and lovers will stretch from the beautiful shores of American Legion Post #16 and Wellington Beach along Crisfield’s waterfront to the City Dock and J. Millard Tawes Historical Museum. This BIG Little Townfest will be a dog’s dream come true with special beach swims, pier jumping, talent contests, doggie art, boat rides to Janes Island beach or the Crisfield waterfront and a treat scavenger hunt!! Of course the humans will enjoy music, food and drink concessions, vendors, free museum tours and kids activities, but we ALL know it’s about the DUCK DOGS–did we mention the treat scavenger hunt?! There will be an aerial photo each day at 3:00pm to show all the dogs throughout the town.
All the proceeds for this event will go to Friends of Crisfield and veterans/first responders with service dogs, including U.S. Kennels. Visit FriendsofCrisfield.com to see more information and to register for the event.
It may be hot for this event, but there are usually cool breezes coming off the Bay, shady areas throughout town and plenty of water! Bring your own chairs and umbrellas to set up and stay a while at the beach and grassy areas around the Legion. See you there!
