The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce – Education Committee Network (SACC-EN) and the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore (CFES) are proud to announce Season 3, Episode 5 of “Education is Everybody’s Business (EIEB)” – Shore Concerns That Matter – The Mission of our Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore: Connecting People That Care with Causes That Matter.

In this informative episode, Host Ladd Colston, Ph.D., CEO of Sustainable Visions, LLC, provides an overview of the role and function of community foundations nationwide as public charities that are dedicated to improving the lives of people in a defined local geographical area. We learn that more than 900 community foundations operate in urban, suburban, and rural areas across all 50 states of America. Each one is tasked with the key role of identifying and solving community problems.

Host Dr. Colston interviews Mrs. Erica Joseph, President, and Mrs. Lauren Ansted, Director of Community Impact, of our regional Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, to discuss the Foundation’s mission, vision, and impact of local philanthropy in the Lower Shore Counties of Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester.  Featured content highlights our CFES as a 501 ©(3) nonprofit organization that has fostered charitable endeavors, providing more than $114 million in grants and scholarships to our local economy since 1984. We learn about the growing demand for Education Grant Funded Projects and how they are positively impacting our children in cultural learning, socio-emotional development, and interpersonal communication skills.

Lastly, we learn that anyone can be a donor for a cause that matters to them. It can be as small as $25 to $50. Businesses, fraternal organizations, families, and concerned individuals are encouraged to support impactful grantmaking through the CFES.
