Orders are open through Friday, October 23, with pickup and volunteer opportunities available October 27 and 28

Salisbury, MD — Epoch Dream Center is continuing one of the Eastern Shore’s most beloved holiday traditions with its annual Sweet Potato Biscuit Sale, raising critical funds to support local children and families.

For 50 years, volunteers have gathered to make thousands of sweet potato biscuits from scratch. The tradition began at Nelson’s United Methodist Church and was entrusted to Epoch Dream Center in 2023, allowing the sale to continue while directly benefiting children in western Wicomico County.

Orders will be accepted through Friday, October 23. Biscuits are $10 per dozen and will be prepared fresh, ready to bake immediately or freeze for the upcoming holidays. Orders may be placed online at www.epochdreamcenter.com.

Biscuits will be available for pickup at Epoch Dream Center, located inside CrossPointe Church of the Nazarene at 27765 Nanticoke Road in Salisbury, during the following times:

  • Tuesday, October 27, after 12:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 28, after 9:00 a.m.

Corporate and organizational delivery is also available for participating workplaces, schools and community groups through consolidated orders and central drop-off arrangements.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale directly benefits Epoch Dream Center’s students. Epoch serves children in western Wicomico County who are living at or below the poverty level, providing transportation, academic support, homework assistance, mentoring, enrichment opportunities and social-emotional wellness programming.

Each evening at Epoch concludes with a from-scratch dinner prepared by volunteers and shared by students and staff around the table in a family-style setting. These meals provide more than nourishment. They create consistency, connection and a sense of belonging for every child who walks through Epoch’s doors.

“This sale is about much more than biscuits,” said Joann Blackmon, executive director of Epoch Dream Center. “It brings people from across the community together to continue a tradition that now helps us provide a safe, caring and consistent place for our students. Every order and every volunteer makes a real difference for the children we serve.”

Community members are also invited to help make the biscuits on October 27 and October 28. Volunteer shifts are available from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with lunch served from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. both days.

Individuals may register to volunteer at https://tinyurl.com/epochdream.

Businesses and organizations interested in sending volunteer teams should contact Steve Marino at steve@epochdreamcenter.com or 443.783.3683 to coordinate their participation.

Individuals and businesses may also support the fundraiser by sponsoring the cost of ingredients and production supplies. Ingredient sponsorships help offset the significant upfront cost of producing thousands of homemade biscuits and allow the fundraiser to have an even greater impact on Epoch’s students and programs. Anyone interested in making a financial or in-kind contribution should contact Steve Marino at steve@epochdreamcenter.com or 443.783.3683.

Whether purchasing biscuits, volunteering for a shift, organizing an employee team or helping cover the cost of ingredients, every participant plays a part in preserving a treasured local tradition while supporting children in the community.
