We are finally resuming the Wicomico Teacher of the Year Recognition Program, which was put on hold in March when schools closed due to the pandemic. The Wicomico Teacher of the Year Banquet would have been March 26th, and the 25 semifinalists have been waiting ever since to find out the results. Teacher Appreciation Week seemed like the perfect time to do it.

Earlier today, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Donna Hanlin surprised four of the Teacher of the Year semifinalists with the news that they are finalists for Wicomico Teacher of the Year. The surprise news came during a Zoom interview with Lisa Bryant about distance learning. That interview will air at about 5 tonight on DelmarvaLife.

Congratulations to:

Primary Finalist: Chelsey Mangum, Prekindergarten 3 Year Olds, Beaver Run Elementary (Left Below)

Intermediate Finalist: Kelly Hamilton, Thinking and Doing (TAD) Program, North Salisbury Elementary

Middle School Finalist: James McCrobie, 6th- to 8th-Grade Social Studies/STEM, Salisbury Middle

High School Finalist: Hemalatha Bhaskaran, Environmental Science, James M. Bennett High (Right Below)

The 2020-2021 Wicomico Teacher of the Year will be named on WBOC’s DelmarvaLife at about 5 p.m. Thursday.
