Salisbury, MD — On Saturday, Dec. 20, members of the City of Salisbury Fire Department
and Salisbury Police Department in partnership with Behind the Line, hosted the annual “Shop with a Hero” event to support local children and families this holiday season.
The memorable event delighted 56 children at Sam’s Club, each of whom was paired with a first responder for a special shopping experience. Members of the Salisbury Police Department were also able to keep the momentum going by surprising more than a dozen more families at the neighboring Walmart store with an unexpected opportunity to shop together.
Thanks to more than $7,000 raised, including a generous $5,000 grant from Sam’s Club, children received gift cards to shop for holiday gifts for themselves and their loved ones. The City of Salisbury extends its sincere appreciation to all those who donated as well as to the dedicated volunteers, the hardworking retail employees, our first responders and all those whose support helped make the event a success and brought smiles to the faces of so many children
Participating agencies included the Salisbury Police Department, Salisbury Fire Department, Fruitland Police Department, Maryland State Police, Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, Wicomico
County District Court Bailiff’s Office and Ocean City Police Department.
