Fisher earns Salisbury Jaycees’ “Exhausted Rooster” award

Travis-Fisher-Exhausted-Rooster

The Salisbury Jaycees recently presented chapter member Travis Fisher of Easton, MD, with its Exhausted Rooster Award, marking his “aging out” of the organization.

The presentation was the culmination of a roast held in Fisher’s honor during the chapter’s annual Past Presidents Night banquet.

The Exhausted Rooster Award — a play on the term “exalted ruler” — is given to Jaycees when they surpass the international organization’s membership age limit of 40. For his service, Fisher also received the chapter’s lifetime membership pin.

Fisher joined the Salisbury Jaycees in 2005, serving as co-chair of that year’s Salisbury Christmas Parade, which is run by the chapter annually. He went on to chair several other Jaycees projects over the next 13 years, including the chapter’s involvement in the Wicomico County Recreation, Parks and Tourism Department’s annual Pork in the Park barbecue festival; the Delmarva Chicken Festival; and the Wicomico County Fair.

He was elected to the Salisbury Jaycees’ board of directors in 2006, serving in various vice presidential positions before becoming president in 2011 and board chair in 2012. He became president of the Maryland Jaycees in 2016 after serving on its board of directors for several years.

In addition to these contributions, Fisher created and for many years maintained the Salisbury Jaycees’ Facebook page. In 2007, he also named the chapter’s mascot, Saul the Salisbury Jaycees Bear.

He was inducted into the Maryland Jaycee Militia, the Maryland Jaycees’ lifetime membership organization, in 2015, and currently serves as its commander. In 2016, he was named a U.S. Jaycees Ambassador, denoting lifetime membership at the national level, the nation’s highest Jaycees honor. He also is a member of the Maryland Jaycees Crab Corps auxiliary organization.

His tenure with the Salisbury Jaycees officially ends in March 2019.
