Gillis Gilkerson, one of the most stable and trusted general contracting and construction management firms on Delmarva, announced it has been hired as the construction manager for the reconstruction of the Wicomico Yacht Club after a kitchen fire badly damaged the facility in December, 2016.  The fire caused extensive damages to the 5,000 square foot building located at 3345 Yacht Club Road in Eden, Maryland.

“The Wicomico Yacht Club has been an established boating club in Wicomico County for close to 60 years,” said Dwight Miller, president, Gillis Gilkerson.  “We look forward to being a part of rebuilding and restoring the club for its members and our community.”

“We chose Gillis Gilkerson as construction manager because of the company’s reputation and the help they provided us with the flood clean up after Hurricane Sandy hit,” said Commodore Ray Semski, head officer of the yacht’s command staff.  “Right now we are in the planning phase and looking at options for room and kitchen placement,”

Club staff is currently reviewing possibilities for the design of the building with hired architect, Keith Fisher of Fisher Architecture.  Gillis Gilkerson project manager Don Murray said the structure will be elevated at least six feet to meet code requirements and sit above the flood point.

Commodore Ray reported the club’s pool, bar and docks are still intact and there will be a temporary club house, food truck and open dock bar during reconstruction.  Once demolition debris is removed, all scheduled events will take place from spring into fall.
