Good Sports Awards Honors Wicomico’s Players and Coaches

Salisbury, MD — Players and coaches from 20 youth-based sports organizations were recognized at the sixth annual Good Sports Awards on Feb. 15.

The Good Sports Awards honors community members who demonstrate the four youth sports core values supported by Wicomico County Recreation, Parks & Tourism: fun, community, sportsmanship and skill development.

Eligible youth-based sports organizations were invited to recognize one youth

player and one coach who best demonstrate these core values.

Robinson’s was the lead sponsor of this event. Wellpoint sponsored the Youth Sportsmanship Awards and the Outstanding Coach Awards. The winners are listed below.

Representatives of these organizations could also make nominations for four additional awards.

Those awards were the Administrator of the Year, which went to Linda Mills of East Wicomico Little League; Official of the Year, sponsored by Robinson’s, which went to Jeremy Bouchelle of Wolverines Wrestling; the Community Impact Award which went to the Delmarva Shorebirds; and the Lorne C. Rickert Lifetime Volunteer Award, sponsored by the Shorebirds, which went to the Urban family of Falcons Youth Sports.

The award ceremony was held in the Wicomico Civic Center. Aprile Preller served as keynote speaker and Tim Nolan, sports director for the Delmarva Sports Network, was the emcee.
