SALISBURY, MD – On Saturday, November 14, Goosehead Insurance of Salisbury hosted a “Goosegiving” event at the Mad Hatter Café, in part to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County (HFHWC).

This fundraiser quickly surpassed its goal of $2,000 in two hours and raised a total of $3,250 in Giving Tuesday match pledges. This $3,250 will be added to match pledges from other generous HFHWC donors to total $5,600 in match funding for the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore’s Giving Tuesday campaign, The Shore Gives More.

Through these match pledges, anyone donating to HFHWC through The Shore Gives More site on November 30 will have their contribution matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,600 (www.shoregivesmore.org/hfhwc).

Funds raised through The Shore Gives More campaign will be used to help meet HFHWC’s revised fundraising goal of $400,000 to build or rehab nine homes by June 30, 2022. Over $210,000 of that funding has already been raised.

All Giving Tuesday donations will be used to purchase building material for these nine projects, which will provide safe, affordable homes for hardworking families in need in Wicomico County.

About Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County

Habitat for Humanity works to make homeownership of decent, affordable homes a matter of conscience and action. Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County was founded in 1987; since then the affiliate has built and sold 71 homes locally. Through volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent homes with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat homes are sold to partner families at no profit, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments come back to the affiliate to help build more homes for more families.
