Annapolis, MD — Today, Governor Wes Moore applauds the launch of the Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Alliance, which brings together dozens of philanthropic, business, and community leaders who are committed to supporting all who have been affected by the Key Bridge collapse — families, port workers, first responders, small businesses, and the surrounding communities.
“Partnership produces progress, and that philosophy is at the heart of this Alliance,” said Gov. Moore. “I am grateful for the industry leaders and community champions who have raised their hands to join us in this effort. They prove what it means to be Maryland Tough and Baltimore Strong – across sectors and society. By working together, we will emerge from this challenge stronger and more united than ever.”
The Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Alliance is led by the Greater Baltimore Committee and Baltimore Community Foundation, in partnership with organizations like the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, Maryland Philanthropy Network, and Baltimore Civic Fund. The Alliance includes over 80 members that have committed a combined $15 million.
Gov. Moore serves as the Honorary Chair of the Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Alliance, and Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski, and Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman serve as the Alliance’s honorary co-chairs.
The Alliance members commit to supporting efforts that will aid recovery and minimize the impact on communities through concrete actions that may include:
- Retaining workers impacted by the port operations and/or preventing layoffs for impacted workers.
- Ensuring that impacted workers do not experience a reduction in work hours.
- Returning to Baltimore if a business or organization had to temporarily relocate operations or staff.
- Donating in support of the Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Key Bridge Fund at the Baltimore Community Foundation.
Alliance members are also welcome to contribute in other ways that are aligned with their unique capabilities and provide direct support to the people most impacted by the Key Bridge collapse.
“Since the moment this tragedy occurred, our coordination has been our strength. I’m honored to join Governor Moore, County Executives Olszewski and Pittman as partners in the Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Alliance. Our commitment to all the families impacted by this has been clear — we will be there with you every step of the way,” said Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott. “Together, we will ensure a full recovery from the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge by doing everything we can to support affected families, workers, and businesses and we will build back our city, our port, and our state stronger than before.”

Ensuring that our residents recover from this crisis requires us to continue delivering a comprehensive and coordinated response,” said Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski. “I am proud to join Governor Moore, Mayor Scott, and County Executive Pittman and the Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Alliance — and we encourage leaders from every sector to join us in providing sustained and targeted resources to support the recovery of our neighbors amid this unfathomable disaster.”
“The communities of northern Anne Arundel County exist because of the jobs the port brought. The workers and businesses impacted by the bridge collapse need our help. I’m honored to stand with the Governor and my colleagues in this alliance,” said Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman.
