Wor-Wic Community College has received funding from the Maryland Department of Labor and U.S. Department of Commerce to provide scholarships for commercial driver’s license (CDL) and heavy equipment operator courses.
The heavy equipment operator course is free through the grant. The 10-week course teaches participants to operate a backhoe, bulldozer, mini excavator and skid steer loader. Seats are limited and the course starts Aug. 4, so interested participants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. CDL classes begin Aug. 18 and prepare participants for a career in commercial truck driving. Scholarships are available to help pay for the course through the grant.
