Grocery Outlet Hosts the SACC December Business After Hours and Celebrates Its One-Year Anniversary

Grocery Outlet Slogan unveiled and ten employees are recognized

On December 14, 2023, the warehouse at Grocery Outlet was converted into the perfect location for the SACC’s December Business After Hours.   Special thanks to Joe Bean, owner, and his staff for hosting a festive and unique networking event and welcoming us to help him celebrate their first-year anniversary.

Joe, who was quickly adopted by many here in Salisbury, shared that “When I was offered the opportunity to own my store, I came here for a visit and immediately fell in love with this community.  It is very much a ‘Mayberry’, the perfect place to live where everyone is so friendly and offers to help each other; even when you go to get gas you still have someone that will hold the door open for you.   I joined the SACC in September 2022, before I even moved crossed country from California to Salisbury, and I have to say that this chamber is amazing, you guys back each other!”

“We opened on December 15, 2022, and we stayed busy until summertime 2023 when it slowed down, but we have been already climbing up and it is because of the connections that we’ve made here in this community.  I cannot say we are your one stop shop for all your groceries, because we’re not, but I asked that you come here and look because we offer everyday groceries, as well as unique items that may be here today but not tomorrow. “

Joe took the opportunity to thank his team.  “I cannot do this without my them” and surprised with a commemorative plaque to 10 employees that have been working with him since opening day.   He also was proud to announce and unveil the store’s own slogan ‘Grocery Outlet Serving Our Community as our Family’.  “We are the only Grocery Outlet out of 478 stores that has its own slogan!”   Grocery Outlet – Salisbury has served the community this past year by donating to organizations such as HALO, The Christian Shelter, Wicomico County Public Schools, US Kennels, Toys for Tots, donating over 13,466 pounds of food to Renovate Church Food Bank, to name a few.

How is Grocery Outlet able to offer great deals?  When a brand has excess inventory from packaging changes or manufacturing overruns, they contact Grocery Outlet.  Grocery Outlets buy these excess products for pennies on the dollar, passing the savings to the customer. Each local store owner chooses products from the inventory that their customers will love the most, personalizing each store’s selection to its local community and then puts them on its shelf. The store carries everything from produce, fresh meat, dairy/deli, frozen foods, health and beauty and general merchandise.  Check out the WOW section where prices will be 50% or more off retail or their NOSH (Natural, Organic, Sustainable, and Health Foods) aisle for unique and gourmet products.

Guests enjoyed catering from Mission BBQ and desserts provided by chamber member Christina Fuller.  Those guests that brought an unwrapped new toy entered for a chance to win a $100 gift card, and four lucky members won gift bags with grocery items and wine.   A 50/50 raffle took place benefiting the SACC Foundation Endowment Initiative to provide scholarships for lower shore students.

Grocery Outlet is open every day 8am-9pm and is located at 2653 N. Salisbury Boulevard.  For daily updates, visit their Facebook page, www.facebook.com/SalisburyGroceryOutlet.
