Salisbury, MD — With the upcoming school year on the horizon, Wicomico County is preparing to welcome a new group of educators to classrooms across the community. Recognizing that relocating and starting a new position can be both exciting and challenging, the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce (SACC) is once again organizing its annual Welcome New Teacher Bags program to help make that transition a little easier.
This initiative provides thoughtfully assembled bags filled with useful items, special offers, and local resources to both public and private school teachers who are new to the area—serving as a warm introduction to the Delmarva community and its strong network of local businesses.
This year’s program will be coordinated by Paula Nichols, SACC Ambassador and owner of Motif Expressions Promotional Products.
SACC President/CEO Bill Chambers shared, “Each year, we are honored to partner with our members to give a heartfelt welcome to the educators joining Wicomico County. These welcome bags represent more than gifts — they reflect a community that values, supports, and celebrates the teachers who will inspire and shape the next generation.”
The Chamber also recognizes the continued support of Pohanka Automotive Group of Salisbury and other generous contributors who help sustain this valued tradition. “The success of this program is made possible by businesses and organizations that understand the important role teachers play in our community,” Chambers added.
Local businesses and nonprofit organizations are encouraged to participate by donating items for the bags. Suggested contributions include branded promotional items, gift cards, school supplies, coupons, or other practical materials teachers can use as they settle in. (Please note: flyers and brochures will not be accepted.)
Monetary donations between $100 and $150 are also welcome and will be used to purchase additional items. All contributors will be recognized through a note included in the bags, as well as via social and print media.
Donations of 200 items may be delivered to the Chamber office, Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, beginning May 4th. (Please note: the Chamber office is closed on Fridays through Labor Day.)
The deadline for contributions is Monday, August 3, 2026.
The bag packing event will take place in early August at the Chamber office, with distribution to new teachers scheduled prior to the start of the school year.
Businesses interested in participating are encouraged to contact Paula Nichols at Nichols.motifexpressions@gmail.com or call 443-859-0696 for more information.
