Your support of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce promotes a healthy and positive business environment, making the city of Salisbury and Wicomico County good places for people to live and work. Many of our events and programs are designed to provide resources for our members so that they can achieve sustained growth.
One such program is Energy Wise Rewards™ for Business that a number of our members have signed up for to take more control over energy use, save money on energy costs, and help protect the environment.
Energy Wise Rewards is also available for the home. This program is offered to both homeowners and renters. As an employer or organization leader, you can help raise awareness among your organization’s employees about how they can save energy and reduce their energy bills at home, while at the same time stimulating energy-conscious behavior in the workplace.
Using less energy reduces power plant emissions and the need to build new power plants. Encouraging employees to support healthier choices and cost-saving choices benefits them, their families, the community and the workplace.
How does it work?
Energy Wise Rewards is a completely voluntary program offered to Delmarva Power customers at no charge. It will not only help employees increase their understanding of their energy use, but also give them the ability to take control of their energy use and use less at home.
- Customers choose a web programmable thermostat or an outdoor switch. Pepco provides and installs these devices at no charge. The thermostat is valued at $180.
- Customers receive an Installation Credit of up to $80 off their energy bill after the installation.
- Customers choose the 50%, 75%, or 100% cycling level and receive an additional Annual Reward of up to $80 off their June through October energy bills.
- During select summer weekdays, Energy Wise Rewards uses the devices to reduce electricity usage by cycling central air conditioners or heat pumps off and on for a short period of time – your fan will continue to run, which keeps the cool air circulating in your home.
- Programmable thermostats save money throughout the year. The U.S. Department of Energy estimates programmable thermostats can help you save 10% in your energy use all year round.
Many who start at the 50% cycling say they don’t notice when the cycling happens and there is only a 1-3 degree temperature change.
Energy Wise Rewards benefits the entire community and is an easy way to save energy and save money off electricity bills.
Pepco recently offered this program to those at the monthly membership meeting. She can arrange a presentation to your employees and/or schedule a tabling event where employees can learn about the program when they come to work or during their lunch or other breaks.
