SALISBURY, MD – Wicomico High School graduating senior Jaden Sampson was awarded the first-ever Tony & Billye Sarbanes Award for Public Service. The award was established by local citizens and friends of Tony and Billye Sarbanes in appreciation for the decades of service to their country, county, local schools, and charitable organizations.
Sampson donated over 500 hours of his time and talent to various causes. His main passion is the WISE after school program which provides academic and social enrichment for middle school students.
“Public service allows me to be an influential role model offering teamwork, leadership, compassion, and a positive attitude for those in need of support and encouragement,” stated Sampson.
Held at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, the Tony & Billye Sarbanes Award for Public Service Award endowment will provide a monetary award to one Wicomico County Public Schools graduating senior each year who demonstrates a high-level of spirit and commitment to public service.
“It is our privilege and pleasure to oversee this fund which honors the Sarbanes’ commitment to public service and encourages that same spirit and dedication in local students,” states CFES Program Officer Cathy Diekmann.
