Maryland’s top travel and tourism professionals gather at the Ocean City Fontainebleau Resort in Ocean City, Maryland, for the 41st Annual Maryland Tourism & Travel Summit on November 14 – 16. They will celebrate the resiliency of an industry that has been battered, but not beaten, by the worldwide pandemic.
The three-day event will attract more than 200 tourism and hospitality industry leaders from across the state to network with one another and learn new strategies to advance Maryland’s tourism industry. Topics range from navigating the recovery to organizational transformation. Economists and state tourism leaders also will present the economic outlook for the industry and the country.
“Ocean City is excited to host the Maryland Tourism & Travel Summit where we will focus on the ‘Economics of Tourism.’ We have a jam-packed agenda with speakers and panels who will drive home just how impactful tourism is and can be across our state. We will offer hands-on sessions and tool kits which can help attendees grow tourism revenues in exciting and creative ways when they return home. The excitement and fun will begin on Monday evening with the welcome reception at Seacrets. Look for boardwalk entertainment, live music, food provided by various restaurants in a special Taste of Ocean City sampling, and more,” says Ann Hillyer, Event Co-Chair and CEO of StateVenuters, LLC.
Keynote speakers include Barbara Wold, who will be speaking about “The Power of Partnerships,” from the Retail & Consumer Authority, as well as Rachel DruckenMiller, who will address “What Employees REALLY Want from Work,” founder of UNMUTED.
Attendees will have the opportunity to analyze the economics of tourism, hearing impactful insights from Anirban Basu, Chairman & CEO, Sage Policy Group, Inc. Other session topics include “INsights to OUTcomes;” Data Dizziness and Relevant Research, Build Your Community and Visitor Base with Tourism Segments, and Changing Travel Technologies.
A highlight for attendees is the Maryland Tourism Coalition awards ceremony where individuals and organizations are recognized for personal achievement and excellence in marketing and public relations. Additional awards will be presented earlier in the week by the Maryland Office of Tourism Development.
The summit is presented by the Maryland Tourism Coalition (MTC), a membership association representing all segments of the industry, with support from the Maryland Office of Tourism Development and a host of sponsors including some of the country’s top travel brands.
Tourism is among the largest private sector employers in the state, supporting more than 104,000 direct full-time equivalency jobs in leisure and hospitality, retail, transportation, and other sectors impacted by visitor spending.
