The Rotary Club of Salisbury is pleased to welcome to its Thursday, October 22 meeting Jason Taylor of the Mid Atlantic Radio Kontrol Society (MARKS). MARKS is an American Model Aviation, non-profit organization that flies radio controlled planes and drones. Taylor is the acting Secretary of the club.

Taylor has been operating sUAS (Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems) for over 25 years. Beginning his Model Aviation adventures at the age of 13, his passion to fly and teach others has driven him to his current career as an FAA part 107 Certified Remote Pilot.

He has been the Leading Unmanned Systems Flight Technician for Sentinel Robotic Solutions at Wallops Island, VA since 2017. As Leading Instructor for Part 107 training with SRS, as well as his role as Virginia Fire Instructor, Jason is directly responsible for training personnel to operate Small Unmanned Aircraft systems (Drones) for agencies such as the Accomack County Department of Public Safety, Northampton County EMS, Ocean Pines Police Department, Maryland State Police, Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, and Rappahannock Electric Cooperative. He has also trained over 100 students in Unmanned Aircraft Systems in various courses held at Wor-Wic Community College.

Jason currently has a combination of 20 years as a volunteer and career Firefighter and is a Virginia Advanced EMT. Prior to his career at SRS, Jason was a Fire Medic with the Accomack County Department of Public Safety and a Communications Officer at the Eastern Shore of Virginia 911 Communications Center.

Over the course of Jason’s UAS career, he has had the opportunity to serve as Remote Test Pilot and External Operator on multiple Unmanned Aircraft Systems including large group 3 Unmanned Aircraft up to 38 foot wingspan and endurance times of up to 10 days of continuous flight.

As a Leader Member with the Academy of Model Aeronautics, A Club officer, an RC Instructor, and an active promoter within the model aviation community, Jason strives to share his passion for all types of Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
