Jeanne Loyd to Retire After 11 Years of Service

The City of Salisbury’s Director of Human Resources, Jeanne Loyd, has announced her retirement after 11 years of service to the city and its residents.

“Jeanne has been instrumental in building TeamSBY and making the City of Salisbury an incredible organization to be a part of. From ensuring team benefits and always keeping track of morale, to introducing policies and procedures that keep our employees’ best interests in mind, Jeanne’s thoughtful leadership and true concern for her employees will be missed,” shared Mayor Jacob Day.

The Human Resources Department is responsible for administering the City’s benefits, developing and implementing strategies around talent acquisition, department accountabilities, succession planning and employment relations.

A lifelong resident of the Eastern Shore, Jeanne came to work with the City of Salisbury in 2010 with over 25 years of Human Resources experience, which included policy development, benefits administration, training standards, performance measurement and developing personnel and their knowledge of employee management skills.

She has been instrumental in defining and ensuring the presence of Human Resources in every aspect of this City’s footprint, and has truly been a strategic partner with the City of Salisbury Administration and current leadership.

Jeanne’s true talent is exemplified by her willingness to assist employees in navigating the legal, financial and personal issues that are part of every employee’s life. “It is this type of work,” Jeanne says, “that requires a love for others and the desire to coach, train, and in some instances personally assist an employee in order for them to succeed.”

A main focus of her position at the City of Salisbury has been to champion process improvements to help make things more efficient for employees as well as making sure that employees have knowledge of benefits, worker’s compensation and more, as well as the development of onboarding methodologies and developing competencies for all areas of the organization.

Jeanne is proud to have had the opportunity to work collaboratively with many local, county and state organizations to provide avenues of communication for programs such as the City’s Wellness Initiative. She also prides herself in working with management teams to remove communication barriers with employees, fostering healthy conversation between employers and employees.

Above all, Jeanne has been an invaluable source of experience and knowledge for the City of Salisbury, always working to advocate for city employees. Most recently, she has introduced a cloud-based, citywide, annual education program to help employees stay abreast of their rights.

“I have truly enjoyed my time working with and for the citizens of Salisbury,” Jeanne shared, “and I will forever cherish the relationships I have developed throughout my time here.”
