Apple Discount Drugs is pleased to announce president, Jeff Sherr has been honored with the “Celebrating Aging Award” from the Wicomico County Commission on Aging for his support of several programs provided by MAC Inc.
“It is quite an honor to receive an award from such a worthwhile organization,” said Jeff Sherr, president, Apple Discount Drugs. “As the Shore population continues to age, it is our responsibility in the healthcare industry to make sure our community has the resources and services they need to lead a healthy and quality life. I enjoy partnering and supporting organizations with initiatives that complement Apple’s mission and goals.”
“Jeff has a continuing commitment to the senior population on the Lower Eastern Shore,” said Marianne Kelley, MAC volunteer. “He has supported numerous community projects such as the Let’s Be Santa program which benefits many of MAC’s clients. He has participated in MAC’s Brown Bag Day program where seniors bring in all their medications and have them assessed for potentially harmful drug interactions. Jeff has been a frequent MAC presenter on the diabetes management program and refers seniors to MAC’s Diabetes Self-Management Program. Jeff has taken steps to assure his pharmacies are responsive to aging issues.”
A past member of the Wicomico Commission on Aging, Sherr also financially supports several MAC Inc., health fairs, and events such as the Soles for Seniors Walk-a-Thon. Sherr also participates in fundraising for the Senior Emergency Loan Program. This program (serving all four Lower Shore counties) offers loans to seniors who need assistance paying for dental, vision and hearing services that are not covered under Medicare and/or Medicaid.
“It is local businesses like Apple that support our community agencies like MAC, thus we appreciate the local support from our communities and without it, our financial support would not have been possible,” added Sherr.
