John B. Parsons Assisted Living hosts SACC January Business After Hours

ohn B. Parsons Assisted Living, a staple in Salisbury since 1903, hosted the SACC's January Business After Hours.

Yesterday, John B. Parsons Executive Director Joe Laque welcomed guests to the January Business After Hours, along with Donna Murray (Director of Community Services), and the John B. Parsons leadership team.

Offering tours of the facility,  Murray shared, “The mansion, established in 1903 as a heartfelt wedding gift from John B. Parsons to his daughter, embodies a legacy of care. Following Mr. Parsons’ passing, the East and West wings were transformed into the John B. Parsons Home for the Aging, designed to be a loving sanctuary for women who faced the challenges of losing their partners in combat or during wartime. Over 50 years ago the Harrison Family purchased this facility, and it has since been under their ownership.  We have 48 beds available; 12 residents are in the memory care and 36 in assisted living.   We also offer respite care and bridge to home facilities.  Join us for tours of the facility or stop by at any time to visit our residents, as they love to have company.”

The iconic John B. Parsons Assisted Living facility is located on Lemmon Hill Lane, overlooking the city of Salisbury. Originally built in 1903, the management aims to maintain the original period aesthetic through renovations and modern upgrades. As you walk through the halls, you’ll notice the grand, old-world charm characterized by high ceilings, numerous meeting spaces, and a welcoming large front porch. The property has been undergoing renovations since last year and still has some updates to complete, including improvements to color schemes, flooring, and more.

John B. Parsons creates a warm, welcoming environment while delivering outstanding healthcare services. They proudly offer independent and assisted living options for seniors, along with specialized rehabilitation and memory care. With a dedicated and skilled team, families can rest assured that their loved ones will receive compassionate care, always treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. It’s a place where comfort and care come together beautifully!

During the Business After Hours event, guests enjoyed a selection of wine, beer, and the “1905” cocktail, which offered a refreshing twist on a traditional whiskey drink, featuring notes of citrus, honey, and ginger. The delightful appetizer buffet, prepared by onsite Chef Todd Cathell and his assistant Slim, included a variety of dishes, such as crab dip, mini wieners wrapped in bacon, meatballs, popcorn chicken served with BBQ and sweet Thai sauces, meat empanadas, cold shrimp, tomato bacon cups, crab deviled eggs, and an assortment of desserts.

Door prizes where raffled among chamber members and included 2 wellness baskets and gift cards.   A 50/50 raffle, benefiting the SACC Foundation endowment initiative, generated money for lower shore students to pursue studies in a business-related curriculum or for training and certifications in the trades.
