Berlin, MD – Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore (JAES) is gearing up to host their 35th Annual #TeeUp4JA Golf Tournament on April 29, 2021, at The GlenRiddle Golf Club in Berlin, MD. This year’s tournament is presented by BBSI – Salisbury. Golfers will spend the day on the private side of the club’s course, along with enjoying catered meals, prizes, and awards. With the growing excitement for the event, the tournament is already sold out for teams.
“This event is always filled to capacity each year,” said Jayme Hayes, JAES President. “Each year the race to participate gets tighter and tighter. Honestly, we’re just really excited to finally get the community together on the course,” said Hayes. “With this being our 35th year, it is a testament to an amazing community, driven to continue supporting students across the Shore each school year. We’re thankful.”
JAES raised over $26,000 at last year’s tournament. With the proceeds, 578 students on the Eastern Shore gained access to JAES’ newly innovated virtual programming, for free. This year, JAES has been busier than ever. “This school year, we have more than doubled our student numbers in an effort to support our schools with our virtual programs. We’ve also added Accomack County, Virginia to our service area,” said Hayes. “We certainly wouldn’t be able to do things like that without support from our community.”
JAES is taking safety precautions and following all CDC guidelines for the upcoming event. “Keeping our players, volunteers, and staff safe is our top priority,” said JAES Marketing and Events Coordinator, Ivory Bandoh. All proceeds from this year’s tournament will go towards the organization’s effort to continue providing free virtual programming to thousands of students on the Shore.
Hole sponsorship opportunities are still available for the tournament. To learn more about sponsorship opportunities, please contact Ivory Bandoh, at ivory.bandoh@ja.org or visit www.juniorachievement.org/web/ja-easternshore/ja-golf-event.
About Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore
Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore (JAES) is a non-profit organization educating youth, grades K-12, on financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship. We are dedicated to providing possibility and powering potential for students in 6 counties on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and the newly added Accomack County, on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. As the liaisons between business and education, we immerse ourselves in local business industries, identify the needs of the marketplace, and develop an innovative, needs-based curriculum that is brought to life, in the classroom, by community volunteers. We teach concepts that equip and inspire our students to understand and manage their finances, to live within their means, to identify fulfilling career pathways, to prepare for the “new norm” of work, and to explore entrepreneurial thinking. Our interactive, hands-on approach and our fun and engaging curriculum help students connect what they’re learning in school to real-life experiences. With the help of our community of Game Changers, our programs are provided to our schools at no cost to ensure all students, no matter where they find themselves in life, have access to JA’s vital programming. At JA, we believe in a world where every child’s story ends in success.
