Junior Achievement New Location

Junior Achievement (JA), the Eastern Shore’s resource for financial literacy education in grades K-12, has expanded its square footage to meet the increasing demands for their financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship programs in county schools throughout the shore. The new 1,500 square foot space is located in downtown Salisbury at 123c Camden Street–just a few doors down from the non-profit’s previous location.

“Staying downtown and remaining part of its resurgence was key,” explains JA president, Jayme Hayes. “Our old location was wonderful, but with 302 classes taught on the shore last year the need for more square footage to support our growing staff requirements became apparent.”

The school year begins August twenty-fifth and with the economic climate fueling a renewed public concern with financial literacy, the desire for JA programs in classrooms is high. With the need for programs, however, comes the need for volunteers to teach JA materials. “This new office provides us room to grow with our programs and volunteers for many years to come,” states Hayes. “We are excited to bring in more volunteers and show them just how important they are to what we do, and more importantly, how crucial a role they will play in shaping of these future community leaders.”

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the Camden Street JA office will be scheduled for the early fall.
