Eastern Shore, MD— Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore (JAES) is gearing up to host their 34th Annual Golf Tournament on July 1, 2020 at the War Admiral Glen Riddle Golf Course in Berlin, MD. The tournament is presented by BBSI and sponsored by many other local businesses on the Eastern Shore.
“I’ll admit that we weren’t quite sure this event was going to happen this year”, said JAES Vice President, Kate Bleile. “But we remained positive and hopeful in our planning. When we got word a few weeks ago that golf courses would be re-opening, we were calling each other and shouting for joy”, Bleile said laughingly.
With Governor Larry Hogan’s announcement allowing Maryland golf courses to reopen on May 7, 2020, the JA staff took immediate action to ensure the safety of all golfers, staff, and volunteers as they moved forward with planning for the event. “We were confident that our community would be excited to enjoy some fresh air and each other’s company, but we wanted to make sure we were doing it safely”, said Jayme Hayes, JAES President. “The staff at Glen Riddle Golf Club has been extremely helpful and a great resource during this time. We also are closely monitoring reopening updates and policies; ensuring we are implementing the best and safest practices.”
With the tournament meeting the rising anticipation to feel a sense of “normalcy” amidst months of uncertainty, JAES is most excited to support the local community. “The past few months have been difficult for all us, especially our local small business community”, said Bleile. “We are most excited that this event allows us to support those who help to keep our communities running. Our community never fails to rally around us year in and year out. Their continued support and commitment to the education and the future of our students on the shore is truly unmatched. We are blessed to be a part of this community.”
Registration for the 34th Annual Golf Tournament is now open and closes on June 24th. JAES is anticipating teams to sell-out quickly.
