Eastern Shore, MD – Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore will welcome over 4,500 students from 11 counties when it hosts JA Inspire at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center on Wednesday, March 12 and Thursday, March 13. Eighth grade students from Kent, Queen Anne’s, Caroline, Talbot, Dorchester, Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset, Sussex, Accomack and Northampton public schools are expected to be in attendance, while the event will also welcome private and home school students. JA Inspire expects to feature over 130 local businesses, organizations and institutions, giving students a glimpse into career opportunities throughout the region. JA is currently seeking area businesses looking to partner on this program. “The more businesses we have, the better the representation for each industry,” said Ricky Pollitt, Sr. Development Manager for JAES. “This program allows students to take their first steps in career readiness, giving them insight into the roles and jobs available once they enter the workforce.” JA Inspire hosts several industry leaders, including officials from health services, skilled trades, hospitality, agriculture, business, education, law, non-profit, construction, finance, energy and much more. The event will also feature eastern shore colleges, universities, apprenticeship programs, trade schools, and internships so students can gather the information needed to achieve their goals from an educational aspect. “This program not only impacts our students, but will also have a lasting effect on our local businesses and economy,” Pollitt said. “By keeping our talent pool on the Shore, we are ensuring future success for our area.” To become a partnering business at JA Inspire, email Ricky Pollitt at ricky.pollitt@ja.org.
