How many cups of coffee do entrepreneurs drink while trying to launch a successful startup?
Imagine a place where you could present your business ideas or challenges to other local entrepreneurs? Someplace that would provide an audience ready to assist you, support you and challenge you to take the next steps. This is the motivation behind ‘1 Million Cups’, a project from the Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City, Missouri. Since its beginning in April 2012, the program has reached into over 50 cities, and LAUNCH/SBY is working to bring it to Salisbury. This program will provide a forum for those interested in starting a new business or product to practice their pitch, improve their presentation and gain valuable feedback and support from not only their peers, but local mentors, advisors and possible future investors. This program will also provide a space for new entrepreneurs to bring their challenges to a supportive and diverse group of others in their same shoes. More information on the ‘1 Million Cups’ program can be found on the Kauffman Foundation website – www.kauffman.org
LAUNCH/SBY, hosts workshops and events to help entrepreneurs prepare for local pitch competitions, work to build their businesses strategically and help new entrepreneurs connect to local support organizations. By working as a connector to established groups such as the Salisbury-Wicomico Economic Development Office, the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, Maryland Capital Enterprises and The Small Business Development Center, LAUNCH/SBY works to improve the knowledge and strength of local startups.
