Twenty-four law enforcement officers from Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset, Dorchester, Talbot, Caroline and Queen Anne’s counties graduated in the 91st entrance-level class of the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy (ESCJA) operated by Wor-Wic Community College at the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.
Graduation exercises, which were held in the Roland E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City, featured a commencement address by Carsten Wendlandt, part-time instructor in the criminal justice department.
John C. Moses, director of criminal justice at Wor-Wic, Donald Rollyson Jr., assistant director of the ESCJA, and Rob Dell’Erba, ESCJA coordinator, presided at the ceremony. Awards of certification and excellence were presented by agency representatives. Deborah Casey, Ph.D., president of Wor-Wic, presented the First Responders Team Challenge Cup to the Ocean City Police Department. Aaron Grauel of the Caroline County Sheriff’s Department was the class speaker.
In addition to Grauel, graduates included Tyler Kennedy of the Salisbury Police Department; Jacob Becker, Aiden Gregory, Jack Lowe and Jermaine Willis of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office; Kevin Doman of the Delmar Police Department; Ce’Airra Davis of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office; Jared Thompson of the Ocean Pines Police Department; Cara-Marie Chiocca, Dylan Gipe, Joshua Glaub, April Knudson, Jacob McElfish and Timothy Passarello of the Ocean City Police Department; Lawrence Bonneville of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office; Andrew McConnell and Maurice Paulina of the Cambridge Police Department; Christopher Mueller of the Easton Police Department; Mathew Viramontes of the Denton Police Department; Jeremy Eckel of the Federalsburg Police Department; Logan Miller of the Caroline County Sheriff’s Department; Hillary Wroten of the Centreville Police Department; and Dakota Walton of the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office.
