Berlin, MD, September 2024 – The Lower Shore Land Trust will hold a special Halloween fundraiser, “Haunted Harvest: Pouring for Preservation” in partnership with Burley Oak Brewing Company on Monday, October 28th from 6-8pm. Burley Oak Brewery is generously donating a portion of the proceeds to the Lower Shore Land Trust.
In addition to raffle prizes and live music, attendees can enjoy a Burley Oak brew, poured by celebrity guest bartenders, Secretary of Housing and Community Development, Jake Day and former Lower Shore Land Trust Executive Director, Kate Patton! Attendees are encouraged to come in their Halloween costumes.
Jake Day grew up in and eventually became the Mayor of Salisbury from 2015-2023. In 2023, Governor Wes Moore nominated Day to serve as the Maryland Secretary of Housing and Community Development. Day has championed initiatives and programs that strengthen local communities and help protect what makes the Eastern Shore a great place to live, work, and play.
Kate Patton is a pillar of the Lower Shore Community having served as Executive Director of LSLT from 2006-2024. During her time with the Lower Shore Land Trust, she grew the organization from a staff of 1 to 6 and helped preserve over 20,000 acres of the Lower Shore’s working and natural landscape. She continues to serve the Land Trust and its partnering organizations in a consulting role and on various boards and committees. Prior to coming on as ED of LSLT, she owned and operated the Globe Theater, in Berlin, MD, for 17 years.
Both Day and Patton are strong supporters of the Lower Shore Land Trust’s mission to protect and restore the natural resources, wildlife habitat, and working lands of Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties. You can show your support for that mission too by joining them both at the Lower Shore Land Trust’s “Haunted Harvest: Pouring for Preservation” event at Burley Oak Brewing on Monday, October 28th from 6-8pm.
