SALISBURY, MD — Lower Shore Workforce Alliance celebrated the graduation of its Fundamentals of Construction class on June 16th, 2023. Upon program completion, graduates participated in a recognition ceremony followed by a reception allowing them the opportunity to network and schedule interviews with regional employers.

Throughout the four-week course, students mastered competencies including construction math, blueprint reading, power tool operation, resume writing, and employability skills. Course graduates earned construction industry certifications: OSHA 10, lift safety, ladder safety and fall protection, first aid and CPR, and powder-driven fasteners.

As a final project, students worked together to build picnic tables and donated them to Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County.

“Congratulations to the students who came in with a great attitude and departed with the skills and certifications they need to begin a career in the construction industry,” said Robert Hendricks, Deputy Director, Business Services – Lower Shore Workforce Alliance. “Also, a big thank you to the Associated Builders and Contractors of Chesapeake Shores and their members who supported this training.”

This course was made possible by funding from the Relief Act grant and in partnership with the Associated Builders and Contractors of Chesapeake Shores.
