Salisbury, MD — MAC, Area Agency on Aging, will host Cancer: Thriving and Surviving, a free six-week workshop designed to help cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers better manage the challenges of living with cancer and lead more active lives. The workshop will beheld on Tuesdays beginning April 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at MAC, 909 Progress Circle, Salisbury, MD 21804. The workshop will conclude on June 2nd, 2026.

Developed by Stanford University, this self-management program offers practical tools and guidance for navigating many of the physical and emotional challenges that often come with a cancer diagnosis. Topics addressed in the workshop include sleeping problems, pain, stress and anxiety, living with uncertainty, emotions and depression, body changes, healthy eating, exercise, fatigue, and other common barriers to thriving.

The program is designed not only for individuals living with cancer, but also for caregivers who are supporting loved ones through treatment, recovery, and survivorship. Feedback from past participants highlights the workshop’s wide-reaching impact. In a letter to MAC, one caregiver shared that the class helped “break some communication barriers” with her son during his cancer treatment and gave her practical tools for managing daily challenges. She also described the course as highly beneficial and said she would “recommend it highly to anyone on their journey.”

“Cancer impacts every part of a person’s life, including their physical health, emotional wellbeing, and relationships,” said Robin Ritchie, Cancer Survivorship Coordinator. “This workshop gives participants and caregivers a supportive space to learn practical strategies, connect with others, and gain tools that can make day-to-day life more manageable.”

Registration is required. To register, contact Robin Ritchie at 410-742-0505 ext. 170 or rritchie@macinc.org.
