Annapolis, MD – The Maryland Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (MACCE) is proud to announce William “Bill” Chambers, President and CEO of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce / Salisbury, MD, as the 2026 Chamber Executive of the Year. This prestigious award recognizes Chambers’ exceptional leadership, commitment to organizational excellence, and lasting impact on Maryland’s business community.
Since becoming President and CEO in 2017, Chambers has led a remarkable transformation of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce. His focus on transparency, fiscal responsibility, and strategic growth has strengthened the organization’s financial footing, enhanced member engagement, and elevated its role as a leading voice for the regional business community. Under his leadership, the Salisbury Area Chamber has modernized key programs, expanded advocacy efforts, and developed revenue models that ensure long-term sustainability.
“Bill Chambers represents the very best of chamber leadership in Maryland,” said Julia Howes, Chair of the MACCE Board of Directors. “His vision, integrity, and ability to deliver meaningful results for his members and community set a standard for all of us in this profession.”
Chambers’ leadership extends beyond the local level. A past president of MACCE, he has played a key role in strengthening collaboration among chambers statewide. He currently serves as Chair of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce Federation, where he continues to advocate for policies that support businesses and economic growth across Maryland.
His nomination highlighted not only his professional accomplishments but also his character and commitment to service. As noted in one nomination letter, Chambers has made a “transformative impact” on his organization through a leadership style grounded in accountability, innovation, and a deep dedication to his members.
Throughout his tenure, Chambers has guided the Salisbury Area Chamber through both growth and challenge, ensuring members remain informed, supported, and connected. His ability to lead with clarity and purpose has earned him the respect of colleagues and stakeholders alike.
The award was formally presented at MACCE’s April 24th meeting in Salisbury, Maryland. Bill will be recognized again for his achievement at MACCE’s 75th Anniversary Celebration in September.
