Maryland state Comptroller Peter Franchot — the state’s tax collector and top business cheerleader — paid a visit to Salisbury and the Salisbury Independent to present a proclamation to the staff, recognizing the weekly newspaper on its one-year anniversary. Also participating in the visit were three of the community’s General Assembly.
Salisbury Independent is a free, local publication distributed weekly to 20,000 readers; it celebrated a year of publication in mid-May. On hand to accept Franchot’s proclamation and compliments were, from left: Comptroller Franchot, Editor Greg Bassett, Delegate Sheree Sample-Hughes, Delegate Carl Anderton, Delegate Mary Beth Carozza, Advertising Sales Consultant Cathy Koyanagi and Reporter Susan Canfora. The Independent published its 60th consecutive edition July 2.
