Salisbury, MD — On Monday, July 14, during the Salisbury City Council meeting, the City of Salisbury proudly honored the retirement of Master Police Officer (MPO) Milton Rodriguez with an official mayoral proclamation recognizing his nearly three decades of dedicated service to the Salisbury community.
Affectionately known as “Milt,” MPO Rodriguez began his law enforcement career with the Salisbury Police Department (SPD) on July 11, 1996. Throughout his 29 years of service, he consistently demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and a deep commitment to public safety. His influence extended beyond his official duties, serving as a mentor to younger officers and embodying the values of the department.
“For both residents and City employees, it is always bittersweet to lose a great police officer like Milt Rodriguez,” said Mayor Randolph J. Taylor. “Officer Rodriguez’s experience, talent, and loyalty are very hard to replace. While he will surely be missed, the City of Salisbury wishes him health and happiness in his well-earned retirement.”
The proclamation issued by Mayor Taylor highlighted MPO Rodriguez’s remarkable career and lasting contributions:
- Born in El Salvador in 1963, Rodriguez immigrated to the United States, graduated from Great Neck South High School in 1981, and joined the Salisbury Police Department in 1996.
- He served in various divisions throughout his career, including Operations, Administration, and Criminal Investigations, ultimately earning the distinguished title of Master Police Officer.
- From 2010 to 2019, he was assigned as a Task Force Officer and sworn U.S. Deputy Marshal with the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, contributing significantly to federal and regional law enforcement efforts.
- He received multiple accolades for his service, including the Silver Star Award, Chief’s Award, Meritorious Service Award, and numerous commendations recognizing his exemplary performance and dedication.
MPO Rodriguez officially retired on May 30, 2025. His retirement marks the close of a truly extraordinary chapter of public service—one that will be remembered with respect and gratitude by both the Salisbury Police Department and the community he served with honor.
