In October, Midway Toyota in Pocomoke City hosted its sixth annual “Drive out Breast Cancer” Walk. Members of the community gathered to walk the lot in support of breast cancer awareness and Women Supporting Women, a local grassroots organization which offers free services and support to women and men in our community battling breast cancer. Major sponsors of the event include local non-profit Delmarva Discovery Center, businesses Sharp Energy and Wal-Mart in Pocomoke, as well as the University of MD – Eastern Shore Chapter.  Money is raised from silent auctions, donations and sponsorships. It is completely free for supporters to participate in the walk.

“Midway is proud to continue its partnership with Women Supporting Women in the fight against breast cancer. The contributions that Women Supporting Women makes to help the women of our community are invaluable, and we are once again pleased to be a part of their remarkable efforts.” said Josh Nordstrom, Business Development Manager at Midway Toyota.

This isn’t the first year Midway has held a fundraiser for the local non-profit. The dealership raised $13,344 at the October 2015 walk, which brings a total of $60,344 they have donated to Women Supporting Women in the past six years from their annual fundraiser.Midway walk group_crop

“Midway Toyota is the top business fundraiser for WSW and has been for many years.” said Emily Rantz, Director of Community Relations for WSW. “They gather community members from the Eastern Shore of Virginia to Salisbury and show a tremendous amount of support for this organization and our mission. We are extremely grateful for their support and dedication to WSW and breast cancer awareness. They are a great example of a local business supporting a local non-profit organization.”
