The National Bank of Cambridge held their first annual “Ag Appreciation” Luncheon featuring Dick Willey, President of Perdue AgriBusiness. The Ag Luncheon was well attended with over fifty prominent farmers and local agriculture related businesses enjoying a home-style meal at Suicide Bridge restaurant in Secretary, MD. Mr. Willey gave an interesting and revealing presentation about the state of the local and national farming economy. Mr. Willey focused on how farming on the Delmarva Peninsula has become a global industry with an increasing amount of crops exported annually. He emphasized that risk management for agriculture businesses will continue to be a key to maintaining a viable and successful farming operation. He offered suggestions the industry uses today to help farmers more efficiently manage risk through technology. Mr. Willey praised the farming community on the Delmarva Peninsula as one of the best in the world.
“We are delighted to have Dick Willey present our first economic message to the farming community,” said Kim C. Liddell, National Bank of Cambridge’s Chairman, President and CEO. “The ag business is an essential part of our economy on the Eastern Shore. The banking industry must continue to partner with the farming community to help them continue to grow and prosper. We are committed to being a reliable partner to Delmarva’s farmers.
