SALISBURY, MARYLAND – March 3, 2021 – NAI Coastal Principal Bradley Gillis recently participated in the lease of 219 Marlboro Avenue, a +/- 9,460 square foot freestanding commercial building located in Easton, Maryland. The building sits at the center of Easton Marketplace and is commonly recognized as the former home of Pier 1 Imports, a national home goods retailer.
In early 2020, Pier 1 announced the closing of nearly 450 brick and mortar locations across the United States; their Easton storefront was one of the many Delmarva-locations vacated later in the year.
Gillis collaborated with self-represented Landlord, Rise Partners, to secure a five-year lease of the full building for Galen Gardner (Trident Furnishings, Inc.), owner of several Delmarva-based interior and exterior home furnishing stores, including Bethany Resort Furnishings and Donaway Furniture. In the coming months, Gardner plans to open his first mid-shore retail location within Easton Marketplace.
“With the help of Brad Gillis, we were able to capitalize on the opportunity presented by Pier 1’s closing in Easton,” said Gardner. “Given the building’s original intent and use, it was the natural choice of location for our next storefront on the Delmarva Peninsula. As we move towards our grand opening, we look forward to establishing ourselves as a prominent destination for high-end home furnishings throughout the mid-shore region and beyond.”
Easton Marketplace is an established hub for retailers in Talbot County and houses several national tenants including Lowe’s, Kohl’s, Weis Market, Marshall’s, Five Below and Ulta. Conveniently located just off of Route 50, the shopping center is less than 90 minutes from Baltimore, Annapolis and Washington, D.C.
“Talbot County is poised for substantial, sustainable business growth,” said Gillis. “Based on its growing popularity and potential for strong tourism, Easton is a great town for locally-owned businesses to plant roots and immerse themselves in.”
