Nonprofits Join Forces to Promote be the Difference Day on April 22nd

make a difference

April is National Volunteer Month.  On April 22nd, nonprofits across the Eastern Shore will host Be the Difference Day, providing a day of easy and accessible volunteer opportunities throughout Worcester, Wicomico, Dorchester and Somerset Counties.

The goal of Be the Difference Day is to raise the profile of community organizations, volunteerism and service. No one “owns” this day; it is a model of cooperation and community spirit. It is not designed to promote any particular organization, agenda, or group.

There are multiple service project sites across the Tri-County area offering both indoor and outdoor activities.  Individuals, families, and teams are encouraged to participate by registering today online at shoregetconnected.org

Volunteers will participate in projects that address critical issues such as literacy, hunger and homelessness, childhood obesity, and preserving natural habitats.

“People in our area look for opportunities to make a real difference in their community.  It is my belief that Be the Difference Day will help our community realize their efforts do count,” said Erica Joseph, President, Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.

Kathleen Mommé, Executive Director of the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore, adds, “Be the Difference Day will unite individuals and families from all walks of life under one common goal: strengthening our community by supporting our most vulnerable neighbors.”
