Target in Salisbury has been a strong partner with United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore for over ten years through significant community service and campaign support with raising over $3,671 in the last United Way campaign, 47% above their $2,500 campaign goal.
Executive Team Leader of Human Resources, Monty Montasser, shared, “Target in partnership with United Way has created a major impact with our store team to not only contribute financially, but physically through amazing volunteer work. Many of our Team Members have had themselves or relatives touched by United Way so our generosity is the product of seeing a direct link to how the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore is making an impact.” Montasser further noted, “Our team has been able to participate at the Salisbury Urban Ministries Soup Kitchen, Chesapeake Housing Mission wheelchair ramp builds and the United Way Valentine’s Carnival for Children at The Salvation Army, as well as many other organizations to help support health, education and the arts in our local community.”
Within the last decade, Target has contributed over $37,900 to the local United Way, with over $26,500 coming directly from employees. In addition, Target contributed $3,000 to United Way’s Imagination Library Program with the Target Early Childhood Reading Grant, and operates their own education initiative with the Target Red Card Program, where 1% of purchases are donated to local schools.
United Way Executive Director, Kathleen Mommé, stated, “Target in Salisbury is a prime example of being a “United Way Community Star!” They are leading the way in positively growing our Eastern Shore with not only their generous campaign donations, but donating their time with incredible volunteerism. We are sincerely grateful for their continued community-wide support.”
