September 9, 2020 – Salisbury, Md. – More than $539,000 in scholarships were granted to area students through the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore in the 2020 fiscal year. The Foundation, which holds more than 190 scholarships funds, disbursed the scholarships to over 400 students.

“Paying for higher education can be a struggle for many families,” says Community Foundation Director of Development and Donor Relations BJ Summers. “Scholarship funds at CFES provide a meaningful and long-term way to give back to the community, while providing an important resource for local students.”

The available scholarships have individual criteria and focus on a variety of study areas, however, not every scholarship is for graduating seniors or four-year college students, or straight-A students.

“Our scholarships are created by individuals, families, or businesses that are passionate about encouraging an area of study, memorializing a loved one, or simply extending a helping hand, so there is a little something for everyone,” says Summers. “Scholarships allow students to make their education and career dreams into a reality. By investing in our future leaders, we are investing in the Lower Eastern Shore and creating a better community for all.”
