Crisfield, MD – Phoenix Real Estate Holdings, LLC (“Phoenix”), in conjunction with Element MD, LLC (“Element MD”) and Element Consulting Services, LLC (“ECS”), will be presenting during the 2021 Maryland Brownfield Conference on November 16 and 17 regarding its real estate development project at Carvel Hall (251 Crisfield Highway, Crisfield, MD 21817).
Ms. Nkechi Iwomi, CEO of Phoenix and the Element family of companies, states: “Phoenix’s development of the historic Carvel Hall as an indoor agriculture and research facility could result in 50 full-time salaried positions with competitive pay and benefits. Initially, Phoenix will develop the site for the east coast’s most sophisticated indoor hemp cultivation facility. Should Element MD be awarded a medical cannabis cultivation license by the state of Maryland, the annual payroll fully staffed could be as much as $2.5 million with an estimated annual revenue of $28 million. In addition to the economic impact for the local community, this project will also utilize solar energy, and other advanced, eco-friendly infrastructure and cultivation techniques, dramatically decreasing the facility’s carbon footprint, all while actively remediating the surrounding grounds.”
As part of the Brownfield Conference, a tour of the facility will be offered at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 16th. Immediately following the tour will be a reception/networking event held from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the J. Millard Tawes Museum (3 Ninth Street Crisfield, MD 21817). Registration for the event can be found HERE.
Historic Carvel Hall was the manufacturing facility that produced the world-famous Carvel Hall steak knife and other metal cutlery from 1951 until May 1995. The plant reopened in 1998 and manufacturing operations ceased in 2006.
