The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated on May 31, 2023, with a ribbon cutting, Pohanka of Salisbury’s acquisition of their three newest dealerships – Kia, Ford and CDJR (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram).
The ribbon cutting was excellently executed with a themed “red carpet” event, where the General Managers and staff of each dealership were able to interact with all the guests. The crowd was welcomed by Sandy Fitzgerald-Angello, VP and Dealer Operator for Pohanka of Salisbury, who praised and thanked all the employees for their tireless work and support to the success of Pohanka of Salisbury. “Just a little bit of what’s going on at Pohanka of Salisbury. We are building a brand-new KIA store, a beautiful building; and are in the process of working on a CDJR service department, completely redone inside. There is a building in front of us that will be a huge service facility that will allow us to work on commercial vehicles and trucks. For those of you who are not aware, Maryland’s general assembly has voted that by 2035 we would only be able to sell electric vehicles, so we are getting ready and will also have space for the electric vehicles, charging stations, etc. There is a lot that will need to go on in getting that shop ready, as it requires a lot of space for equipment, batteries, hoists, etc.”
The Pohanka group now has 12 manufacturers in nine different storefronts on the Eastern Shore: Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Volkswagen and Nissan. They also own Cars Made EZ in Delmar, Del. and Trucks Made EZ in Salisbury, as well as Sprinter vans and Pohanka Pre-Owned Cars. The purchase of Kia, Ford, CDJR added approximately 130 employees to the roster, bringing the local, company-wide total to approximately 600. With each addition, the promise remains the same — customer service will always be a top priority!
Guests walked in on a red carpet, and enjoyed a fun movie concession stand that had freshly popped popcorn and the variety of candies you will find in a movie theatre. Appetizers were provided by Green Hill Country Club and included mini beef wellington, poke nachos and gorgonzola mousse stuffed red peppers. Four lucky chamber members won movie themed baskets that included movie food-goodies and either Hulu & Door Dash gift cards or Regal Cinema tickets-Longhorn-Olive Garden gift cards.
