October Lecture Series: Obsolete, Odd & Absolutely Ooky
Sunday, Oct. 11 | 2 p.m.
The monthly lecture series returns with Sarah Meyers, curator and corresponding docent of the DAR Museum in Washington, D.C. Her presentation, Obsolete, Odd & Absolutely Ooky: Strange Stuff from the Vault, will explore some of the museum’s more unusual objects and the stories they can tell about America’s past.
Halloween Party at Poplar Hill Mansion
Friday, Oct. 30 | 7 p.m. | Ages 18 and older
Spend Halloween weekend at Poplar Hill Mansion with an evening of games, dancing, vendors, light refreshments and storytelling. The mansion will be decorated for Halloween, with a Ghoulish Game Room, costume contest and special appearances from Andy Nunez, author of the Ghosts of the Eastern Shore series, and graphic artist Doug Draper, who will be with us selling his prints.
A suggested donation of $5 per person will be accepted at the door. No RSVP is required.
Spooky Storytime at the Mansion
Saturday, Oct. 31 | 11 a.m. | Free
Children and families are invited to join Karen Earp of the Wicomico County Library’s Paul Sarbanes Branch for a special Halloween storytime featuring a story, songs and a take-home activity.
Jack O’ Lantern Jubilee
Saturday, Oct. 31 | Noon-2 p.m. | Free
The annual Jack O’ Lantern Jubilee brings Halloween fun to the mansion with games, pumpkin painting, a children’s costume parade, prizes and other activities. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Hot dog meals will be available for $3.
