The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce’s Post Legislative Breakfast was held Tuesday, June 6 at Wor-Wic Community College. The event featured moderated discussion about the economic horizon for Maryland businesses and recent changes in state legislation. The panel of speakers included Maryland Delegates Sheree Sample-Hughes, Mary Beth Carozza, Christopher Adams, John Mautz, Charles Otto, Carl Anderton and state Senators James Mathias and Adelaide Eckhart. The event was heavily attended with well over sixty guests.
Cathy Townsend, Chair of the SACC Board and Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services for the Wicomico Board of Education presented the morning’s opening remarks. Bill Chambers, President and CEO of the SACC welcomed the legislators and attendees, emphasizing the importance of understanding and collaboration between Maryland administration and area businesses as a vital part of the state’s economic flourishment.
Bill Ferguson, Chair of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Advocacy Network acted as the moderator of the morning’s forum. The discussed topics included employee leave, the Maryland healthcare exchange, minimum wage, the impending threat to Eastern Shore agriculture, and college education and debt in Maryland. Attendees were given the opportunity to pose reactive questions to the panel after the discussion.
